We live in a society where people are highly concerned about what others think and say about them. We are fearful to speak up because of the fear of rejection. We are fearful to say no because people will not like us. We even sacrifice our health and family to be a people pleaser.
When You Fear Man
You miss out on God’s very best for your life. You would not have the life that God wants you to have. In Proverbs 29:25 NLT it says, “fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.”
Fearing Man Will Prevent You From Growing
Your faith will be hindered because you are relying on what man says and thinks. Therefore, you will miss your destiny and not be effective.
When you let the words of men, what they think and say, control you, you will find yourself compromising, playing it safe, or shrinking back. You will live in boxes and be miserable.
I remember this preacher saying, “If everyone likes you, you may be compromising in some way. Your convictions and beliefs may be tainted.”
You see once you take a stand you will be condemned. Stop living for man’s approval. The only thing that matters is God’s approval. In 1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT says, ”Our purpose is to please God, not people.”
Jeremiah 17:5-6 NLT States:
“This is what the Lord says: Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” WOW!!! I would encourage you to read this again. So, when you fear man you are putting your trust in man and not God.
In 1 Corinthians 4:3 NLT Paul stated that he was not one bit concerned about what man thinks. You need to adopt this same mindset. Break free of the opinions of others. Renew your mind to the Word of God, and do not let the opinions of others intimidate you. Also, remember this everyone is not going to like you.
Pray With Me
Now, if you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, then repeat this prayer and you will be saved and born again.
Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me and cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus thank you that you died for me. I believe that you are raised from the dead and that you’re coming back again for me. I’m saved; I’m born again, I’m forgiven and I’m on my way to heaven because I have Jesus in my heart.
